After nearly two years reviewing many of the top models on the market, we’ve noticed that there are primarily three major factors that differentiate the vast majority true wireless earbud models: Connectivity, battery life, and sweatproofing. Sound, though vitally important to any pair of in-ears, is typically fairly similar across all models — but there are a few high-end brands that make particularly great-sounding true wireless headphones for a significant price increase over most models.Though Apple’s AirPods were among the first to achieve great connectivity and battery life their lack of a special coating to keep the water out, leaves them wanting when it comes to rainy strolls and long, sweaty workouts. Frankly, that’s a shame, because one of the biggest reasons to get a pair of earbuds is to use them outdoors or in the gym, where bulky (but better-sounding) over-ear headphones are ill-suited.
